ARTIST STATEMENT

My art practice investigates “looking” as a dialogue and focuses on illuminating the wonder of the day to day. This practice arose organically from my learning disabilities as a way to explore non-verbal language and communication. My colorful work, full of light and shadow, explores semi-autobiographical themes of memory, identity, relationship to place, and connection to nature. Inspired by a desire for an equitable world, I often depict women and enbies actively engaging their surroundings and freely exploring their environment. Drawn from life and then painted from memory, my works take on a saturated, dream-like quality while employing hints of narrative and symbolism. Through this process, I create my own language of visual poetry imbued with subtle emotion.

Follow along on my journey.
